Sheer Blinds | Sheer Shades
Sheer Shades or Sheer Blinds feature a honeycomb design and offer the appearance of a sheer drape with the functionality of a blind.
Sheer Shades or Sheer Blinds come in various sizes with several options for each, including horizontal sheer blinds and vertical sheer blinds. The fabric is actually narrower than the headrail. Read at the bottom of this page for details.
Vertical Sheer Blinds are ideal for sliding doors and give the room a more elegant look. The vanes are 3 1/2" for vertical sheers. We offer the Ballet Vertical Sheer Drape by Comfortex. These are drapery sheers that provide the privacy, elegance and functionality of a regular vertical blind. The fabric is attached and operates much more smoothly. The R-Value is how much energy efficiency your blinds has for blocking out the heat and cold. For this product (when closed) the R- Value is Decent (Please Contact Us for exact R-Values)
Light-Filtering Sheer Shades: This is the most popular seller in the sheer horizontal line. These shades feature light filtering fabrics that add a soft glow to any room. Also available in a room darkening material for those day sleepers (blocks out around 75% of the light). Also, why not motorize them for those high windows? Sizes include 2" and 3" vanes.
Remember, for ALL roller blinds (sheers, roller shades, sunscreens or any blind that rolls up), the fabric is narrower than the roller. Why is this? This is because the fabric has to roll on a tube. There is no place to put the mechanisms except at the ends of the roller. That's why the blind itself is actually wider than the fabric. It is industry standard to take the entire blind into consideration when making it. For rollers, this includes the mechanisms. The gap between the mechanisms and the fabric itself can be up to 1 1/2". Although this is not a large gap for most customers, it is worthwhile to mention it here. For inside the window mounts this is not optional, so we encourage you to decide if the roller shade is the right window treatment for you. For outside the widow, you do have a choice. You can ADD to the width of the roller to make the fabric any size you want. For example, if you need your fabric to be 35 inches wide, simply add 1 1/2" to the width when you place your order. This includes the mechanisms and makes your fabric exactly at 35". If you have any more questions, please call our Customer Support line.
In summary, for inside the window applications (inside mount), you are going to have about a 3/4" sized gap on both of the sides. This is not optional. For outside the window measurements, add to the width of the blind if you need your fabric to be a certain width (1 1/2" wider is usually enough). Once again, please call us if you need help!
