American made blinds, shades and shutters by Shades Shutters Blinds are manufactured and assembled right here in the USA. We offer one of the largest selections of American blinds, shades and shutters available online.
Except for automobiles and textiles, there is currently no law that requires a "Made in the USA" label. Most of our manufacturers do not put a sticker on their products specifying that they are are American blinds because 75% of the actual components have to be made here. However, they will always put the country of origin label on if not made here, as required by law.
The American blinds and shades listed above meet the "Assembled in the USA" requirement proposed by the FTC that says "A product that includes foreign components may be called "Assembled in USA" without qualification when its principal assembly takes place in the U.S. and the assembly is substantial. For the "assembly" claim to be valid, the products "last substantial transformation" also should have occurred in the U.S." All of the blinds and shades listed will have at least 75% assembly here.
We left out some VERY popular products like faux wood blinds from this page. This is because of a recent Government contract quote requested that was trying to qualify for funding under the current recovery act. Although the requirements of assembly was clearly made, the cost of transportation of the materials from China is included in the "foreign made" part. That cost, along with the components, was more than the cost of assembly here in the US even though 75% or more of assembly was done here. We simply could not find a faux wood blind among our suppliers that could offer this. Secondly, we left off others such as faux wood shutters where the majority of the material is extruded in another country (Canada) but is 100% manufactured here based on those extrusions.
