Custom Window Treatment are commonly thought of as blinds that are made of a solid
fabric. The fabric can be flat, hobbled or several different styles but
all are solid and typically go up and down. The three main types of window
shades on the market are: Roman Shades, Roller Shades, and Cellular
(Honeycomb) Shades.
Roman
Window Shades are made of a solid fabric that is flat or hobbled. They
typically go up and down. There are several hundred types of fabrics to
choose from. Most blind manufactures provide custom made window shades
with tons of selections. However, it is still very popular and relatively
easy to make these blinds at your home with your chosen fabric. Shades

our roman shades. We can sell fabric by the yard but it is rare. We
cannot make the roman blind from your fabric.
Roller
Window Shades do not stack on top of the headrail like a roman shade but
instead roll up on a roller system. The fabric for roller shades typically
has to be thinner in order to roll up smoothly. You can have the standard
roll up shade with the brackets exposed or the optional cassette valance that
allows you to hide all the window shade hardware. Motorization is also
available with the motor roller shades. Battery operated is the most
popular option.
Cellular
(honeycomb) Window Shades is the last category of window shades. They
are made of cellular construction that looks like a bees hive. They are made in
light filtering and blackout fabrics. There are hundreds of colors, pleat
sizes and operating systems to make this window treatment fit any application.
The two main advantages of the honeycomb shade are the extreme energy efficacy
and the very small stack it provides when pulling the shade up and down which
allows the user greater view out of the window opening.
