Suncreen roller shades at Shades Shutters Blinds are hugely popular. Solar Shades are made basically of the same material as out door furniture or window screens. They are thicker, more durable and come in different openness factors. Besides colors and the exception of the new silver screen series (see below), solar blinds choices are determined by the openness factor. The less open, the more energy efficient but less views. The more open, the views are better but the blind is less energy efficient. For most home and commercial applications, the 5%-10% openness sunscreen roller shades are the most popular.

There are two things we need to stress about this product. First, sunscreens are not totally private. In the daytime, you can see out and people cannot see in. It is just the opposite at night. If total privacy is an issue than the shade blinds are probably not a good option. Secondly, the headrail (working mechanisms) are actually wider than the fabric that goes up and down. There is a 1 3/8" light gap between the headrail and the fabric. Scroll down the page to view all the options.

The 5% openness phifer shades series is the most energy efficient sunscreen in the Shades Shutters Blinds line. With an openness factory of only 5%, it allows a defused light to come in with great views. The 5% openness is the most popular line in the sunscreen categories. The second most popular openness factors. Allows plenty of light in, great views, and blocks around 94% of the UV rays that destroys furniture and carpet. The natural sunscreen fabric is a traditional flat color and more plain. 2100 Series, 3000 Series.

This is the newest innovation in the sunscreen market. Made by Comfortex. It is by far the most energy efficient and allows the most view and light in. The Silverscreen has an aluminum backing that defuses most the glare, heat and dramatically increases solar energy performance. Be aware that the back (facing the outside) is aluminum colored.

For ALL roller blinds (sheers, roller shades, sunscreens or any blind that rolls up), the fabric is narrower than the roller. It has to be this way to make room for the mechanisms that operate the blind and the fabric. The gap is the most significant of all our products and that is why this is here. There is a 1 1/2" total difference between the roller and the fabric. For inside the window (inside mount) there is nothing you can do about this so decide if that gap is acceptable. If not, you need to choose a different type of blind. For outside the windows (outside mount), you do have a choice. If you need the FABRIC to be a certain width, add to this measurement to make room for the roller. We will take the measurements including the headrail, not just the fabric size.
