Solar blinds and sunscreen shades are a
see-through material that blocks the heat and UV rays while
maintaining a view. Besides size and color, openness is a factor in
determining which solar shade is right for you. The
higher the openness factor, the better view out of the sun shades but
more UV rays and heat/cold can get through. For most homes, a 5%-10%
factor is the most common openness chosen for the solar shades. A heavy
duty operation system comes standard. The fabric is actually less than
the operation mechanisms. Read below for details.
Solar shades operate the exact same as a regular roller shade. The difference is in the fabric. The fabric is a mesh of see-through material. It is designed to block out the heat, allow a view, and get rid of all UV Rays that might damage furniture. There are many things to look at when determining what type of sunscreen to get but the main one is the openness of the shade. The lower the number, the less you can see out of.
The advantages of the solar roller shades are that they are energy efficient, allow a view while blocking out the UV rays, and they are affordable. We use heavy duty mechanisms and high quality fabrics with our shades.
The disadvantages are that they are not the best energy saving blinds. Remember, they have holes in the material. Although they certainly help, they are not totally private. It you can see out in the daytime, it is the exact opposite at night! These are not recommended for areas where privacy is a must.
For ALL roller blinds (sheers, roller shades, sunscreens or any blind that rolls up), the fabric is narrower than the roller. It has to be this way to make room for the mechanisms that operate the blind and the fabric. The gap is the most significant of all our products and that is why this is here. There is a 1 1/2" total difference between the roller and the fabric. For inside the window (inside mount) there is nothing you can do about this so decide if that gap is acceptable. If not, you need to choose a different type of blind. For outside the windows (outside mount), you do have a choice. If you need the FABRIC to be a certain width, add to this measurement to make room for the roller. We will take the measurements including the headrail, not just the fabric size. We are not responsible for this so call if you have questions.
These products are custom made for you. So, please be sure you understand what you are ordering. There are no returns or refunds for mismeasured items, wrong fabric or color selection - but we want to help you through all these decisions.
