Rose, you are the best! Thanks for your help and the blind look nice.
Sheer shades are an extremely popular blind due to their functionality. You can tilt the blind like a normal blind but each vane is separated by a high quality, sheer that block the UV rays and gives you privacy. When it comes to this shade, the headrail is actually wider than the fabric. Read below for details.
Sheer horizontal shades have a slat that can be light filtering or room darkening. Each slat is separated by a high quality sheer. When the blind is tilted in the open position, you can see out of this sheer. It blocks some of the heat and cold from the outside and allows privacy when you look out. You can also lift the blind up and down like any blind. It actually rolls up inside a cassette headrail which looks nice and finishes out the blind.
The advantages of the sheer shades is they can be formal or informal. They look very nice and fit well in both situations. They will also pull out of the way. They roll up inside a headrail and will never take more then 3 1/2" of space when rolled up. Unlike some of the name brand competition, you can actually lift the blind in a semi-opened position. This can give a cool glowing look to your area without having to have the blind pulled all the way down.
The disadvantages are that they are one of the more expensive blinds that we offer. Second, they do not block the heat that well. The R-Value isn't great so they are not good for hot areas in your home. Lastly, for the room darkening shades, they are not a complete blackout. The sheer that attaches to the vane will not allow the vanes to close tightly. Light will seep through.
For ALL roller blinds (sheers, roller shades, sunscreens or any blind that rolls up), the fabric is narrower than the roller. It has to be this way to make room for the mechanisms that operate the blind and the fabric. The gap is the most significant of all our products and that is why this is here. There is a 1 1/2" total difference between the roller and the fabric. For inside the window (inside mount) there is nothing you can do about this so decide if that gap is acceptable. If not, you need to choose a different type of blind. For outside the windows (outside mount), you do have a choice. If you need the FABRIC to be a certain width, add to this measurement to make room for the roller. We will take the measurements including the headrail, not just the fabric size. We are not responsible for this so call if you have questions.
These products are custom made for you. So, please be sure you understand what you are ordering. There are no returns or refunds for mismeasured items, wrong fabric or color selection - but we want to help you through all these decisions.
