What are some of the reasons why you would need motorized shades? They are used mainly for ease of use and convenience. It can't be any easier than pushing a button and ZZZZZZ, they smoothly operate to your preferences. For some hard to reach and high up shades, it could be a necessity.
For most horizontal shades such as cellular and honeycomb blinds the remote motor will lift it up or down.
Most are operated by a handy remote control but you can use an optional wall switch to operate the electric shades. Some remote controls can operate up to five different channels which will usually be enough for your entire home or office.
There are two main types of remote shades. The first is the infrared. That is a point and click operation system. You have to have the remote control in the line of site of the shade itself. The second is the radio remote control shade. It operates on a radio frequency and can be controlled from any location in your home just like a garage door opener would. Although more expensive, the radio remote will allow you to operate all the shades at the same time which adds convenience.
