Inside MountThe blind is mounted inside the window frame; offers a tailored look, emphasizing the actual size of the window. Any deductions will be made by the manufacturer. Window casing should at least meet the minimum depth required to accommodate the brackets, or the flush mount depth to have the headrail fully recessed in the casing. When selecting your size, enter the actual dimensions of your window casing.
![]() |
Outside MountThe blind is mounted on the wall or molding outside the window frame to cover an area larger than the window itself. Outside mounted blinds are required if the window casing is not deep enough to accommodate the mounting brackets for an inside mount. When selecting your size, enter the desired size of the blind itself - at least 1 1/2" of overlap on each side is recommended.

Everyone loves the warm and inviting nature of sunshine. In addition to helping your body produce key vitamins for your physical health, getting a healthy amount of sunlight can also do wonders for your mental health as well. At the same time however, as with anything too much of it can be a bad thing, and there may be times where you want to cut down on just how much sun is entering your home.
Light filtering double cell shades can be very useful in this regard. Also called ‘honeycomb shades’, they consist of a pleated fabric woven together in multiple sheets to produce a honeycomb pattern. This construction makes them exceedingly useful at filtering light, and they are available in both single cell and double cell versions. As a function of their propensity for filtering light, they also serve as a great way to reduce heating and cooling costs, as they will cut down on the greenhouse effect in the summer, and their thickness and cellular design makes them excellent insulators in the winter as well. This is particularly true of the double cell shades, which consist of having two cells fused together. The only downside of these shades is the fact that their nature also makes it impossible to see outdoors while they are drawn.
If you are the owner of a well-windowed home who has to deal with a strong greenhouse effect in the summer or serious heat loss in the winter, light filtering double cell shades may be an option for you to consider. In addition to their cooling and/or insulating properties, they are also a great asset if you like to nap during the day, have a nursery for your child, or have large screen media that necessitates a lower level of light for viewing.

Comments about Light Filtering Double Cell Shades:
The blinds are attractive, and insulate well. The top/down, bottom/up cordless mechanism works nicely, though occasionally you have to collapse the shade to the bottom ( as per the instructions) to get it to go smoothly to the top.
I was dissoipointed by the color of the metal head rail insert supplied. However, customer service kindly sent another color at no charge.

Comments about Light Filtering Double Cell Shades:
The shades are exactly what I hoped for. I love the top down/bottom up design. The shades are sturdy and well/made. I was hesitant to spend the money on one set of shades (they are less expensive than some, but more expensive than others) but now believe it was well worth it. I use the shades in a massage room and the light filtering creates a soft light in the room. I installed them outside the window frame and they went up easily.

Comments about Light Filtering Double Cell Shades:
We previously had some blinds installed professionally from one of those "in/home sales" blind companies. It wasn't as "E/Z" as they claim. They tried to sell me a blind that i didn't want. They still installed the blind that i didn't want. They changed it to what i wanted, per their guarantee, but there were holes left that we had to fill in. I was still frustrated that the company didn't listen to what i wanted. The price was higher for a lower quality blind. The ones from Shades Shutters and Blinds are much sturdier and smoother. We will go with Shades Shutters and Blinds when we finish up the rest of our windows/doors.
