Inside MountThe blind is mounted inside the window frame; offers a tailored look, emphasizing the actual size of the window. Any deductions will be made by the manufacturer. Window casing should at least meet the minimum depth required to accommodate the brackets, or the flush mount depth to have the headrail fully recessed in the casing. When selecting your size, enter the actual dimensions of your window casing. |

Outside MountThe blind is mounted on the wall or molding outside the window frame to cover an area larger than the window itself. Outside mounted blinds are required if the window casing is not deep enough to accommodate the mounting brackets for an inside mount. When selecting your size, enter the desired size of the blind itself - at least 1 1/2" of overlap on each side is recommended. |

Color Creations Blackout Roller Shades are an excellent addition to any room for a number of reasons. The special blackout fabric is light and thin while still being able to block out sunlight totally. Perfect for watching TV with no irritating glare, taking naps during the day, or sleeping in on the weekends, blackout roller shades simply pull down to enclose the entire area of the window so that no light is allowed through into the room. They also create complete privacy from the outside when closed.

For ALL roller blinds (sheers, roller shades, sunscreens or any blind that rolls up), the fabric is narrower than the roller. Think about it. The fabric has to roll on a tube. There is no place to put the mechanisms except at the ends of the roller. That's why the blind itself is actually wider than the fabric. It is industry standard to take the ENTIRE blind into consideration when making it. For rollers, this includes the mechanisms. The gap between the mechanisms and the fabric itself can be up to 1 1/2". Not huge for most people but it is big enough to post this here. For inside the window mounts, you don't have a choice on this so decide if the roller is the right window treatment for you. For outside the widow, you do have a choice. You can ADD to the width of the roller to make the fabric any size you want. For example, you need your fabric to be 35 inches wide. Simply add 1 1/2" to the width when you place your order. This includes the mechanisms and makes your fabric exactly at 35". This is easy so just call if you need help because we are not responsible for this.
In summary, for inside the window applications, you are going to have about a 3/4" sized gap on both of the sides. You don't have a choice. For outside the window measurements, add to the width of the blind if you need your fabric to be a certain width (1 1/2" wider is usually enough). Call if you need help.

Happy with the quality of the product but... matching shades arrived in two different colors. They are now sending a replacement. Also, was not too happy with the amount of light that comes in on the edge. There is about a quarter inch gap on either side with an inside mount. Probably my fault for not reading the details closely, but after all, it is called a 'blackout' shade.

I ordered the room darkening shade for a bedroom that faces the East / the direction of the sunrise. We had transparent curtains and the light would not allow my daughter to sleep in on the weekends. With this shade, it blocks the bright light and looks attractive too.

Our bedroom window faces the front of our house. Our new neighbors across the street leave their porch light on all night. It shines directly into our bedroom window since our mature trees/bushes were taken out last year when we had our foundation waterproofed. I really did not want to put a shade up but the light is annoying and I was sure it would cost a bundle as our window is 80"w x 47"l. I found your website through a search engine and could not be more pleased. I was originally going with a honeycomb shade but I purchased a roller shade. The samples, price, ease of ordering and customer service help was great! This shade is expertly made of good quality materials. It blocks light, cold air, is easy to raise and lower. I upgraded to a metal chain pulley and couldn't be happier. The reason I gave four stars was the directions were not to clear as to how high the bracket should go on an inside mount. Our shade was heavy and with 2 people it was a bit difficult. We put the brackets at the extreme top but had to remove and lower slightly to take into consideration the thickness of the shade itself. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and look forward to ordering with your company again!

I got the roller shades in blackout with the polkadot design. It's unclear from the fabric sample picture, but the dots are each about the size of a quarter, substantially larger than I was expecting. Initially I was pretty disappointed, but since it's custom/sized, custom/ordered, I had to deal with it. Also, I kind of wish I'd added the chain mechanism so my kids could more easily reach to close the shades.
The mounting instructions that came with the shades in no way matched the mechanism/mounting hardware provided. After several frustrating attempts, it turned out that the new version is quite simple to install. Would be nice to have some instructions, or at least one applicable picture!
