wooden blinds 300x221 Bamboo Sensations: Bamboo Blinds And ShadesDo you want to give your place an Asian or a Hawaiian look and feel right in the middle of anywhere? If any of the above questions end up with an affirmative nod, then you don’t need to keep nodding anymore. The perfect solution to all your decor needs is Bamboo.

Bamboofy your windows

Using Bamboo on window treatments is an age old method to keep sunlight, wind and rain water out. It goes easy on the budget is easily available. This earthly monotone gives a sense of modesty and practicality when used for decor. Bamboo window treatments include bamboo blinds, woven shades, roller shades, and also roman shades with bamboo woven material.

A little prior thinking

Before buying bamboo blinds, there are some things you must consider like everything else. First of all, the type of weave you require – whether you would like a loose weave, where strays of sunlight or breeze can filter through, or would you want a tight weave. Even with a tight weave, the room would not be completely dark, if you must, you may use darkener screens behind the bamboo blinds.

Using bamboo shades in high moisture places like the bath area or a monsoon area shortens the life and lustre of the bamboo. Make sure to use specially treated blinds or shades if it is so.

Bamboo shades mostly come with chord mechanisms and roller shade functions. Bamboo blinds and shades are also available for outdoor patios and decks, this keeps prying neighbours eyes off your siesta hour!

Enjoying the brilliance of a Hawaiian feel keeping the environment safe and green is a joy to your heart as well as to the eye.

Cleaning Bamboo Blinds Once In A While

Bamboo Blinds is a wonderful choice when you have a contemporary yet traditional decor in mind. This natrual material makes your home breathe with life and also lets the environment breathe safely. With all said and done about going green with bamboo blinds, it is important to clean them regularly to maintain its lustre.

Bamboo Blinds Cleaning Bamboo Blinds Once In A WhileIt is very easy to maintain these blinds as they are strong and durable, but they may collect cobwebs, dust, and even mildew over time. The way to wash these blinds is described below:

* The best way to wash these blinds as a whole is in a large wash tub or your bath tub. Fill up with hot water and add soap ideal for cleaning wooded surfaces like Murphy oil soap and the likes.

* Soak the blinds in this hot solution for a few minutes and swish it around. You may take the help of a soft wash cloth or a sponge to gently loosen tough grime.

* Take the blinds out of the soapy water and rinse them till no soap remains.

* Hang them dry in a sunny place and dry them well. If it is still damp in a few places, then let them dry a little more. When fixing back your blinds, please ensure that they are completely dry to avoid mildew formation.

If these blinds are in a damp or a moisture-high place like the bathroom or a damp environment with not much of fresh air, then you may find the build up of mildew on your blinds, as the case with anything kept in damp areas.

To clean the mildew out of bamboo blinds, soak the blinds with one part bleach to two parts of water and wash as described above. Applying an anti-fungal solution or getting it treated professionally for mildew formation is advised if they are to be fixed in a damp area.

Provenace™ by Hunter Douglas™

provenance 91 300x240 Provenace™ by Hunter Douglas™This article comes directly from Hunter Douglas™ and I thought would be useful. We do not sell a ton of the Provenace™ mainly because of price but the fabric quality is some of the best (if not the best) out there.

They broke down the Provenance book into three categories: bamboo, reeds and grasses. Some are a mix of all three or one or two. They combine a traditional look, natural materials and colors and ultra-modern technology. Most of these are porous and filter the amount of light entering a room for dramatic effects.

 Here are the options:

  • 5″ fabric folds when raised and flat when down.
  • They have an optional classic natural wood shade cascades fabric down from the front of the head rail which prevents the need for a valance.
  • The option band edging will protect the fabric from fraying and will allow more customization.
  • You can enjoy added privacy with a light filtering or room darkening backing.

Check out Provenance™ by Hunter Douglas™ for the best woven wood blinds out there.

Bamboo Blinds

Bamboo blind are roman roll up shades that are made of or grasses and bamboo. Bamboo shades have become very stylish over the last couple of years mainly because of pricing and quality.

Bamboo shades are now much nicer and are not necessarily made of total bamboo. Every blind is unique in workman ship. Most bamboo shades are made with grasses and bamboo combined and some are made with different types of sticks and bamboo material.

What is nice about bamboo shades is that it is very friendly to the environment. All mechanisms of this blind are made from natural materials including the optional backing made of cotton that can protect the blind. This makes the shades recyclable and long lasting. The average shade can last from five to twenty five years.

December Sales

We are having a December sale extravaganza on bamboo blinds. 10% off on all Rio Woven Woods. Prestige woven wood blinds have a 1 cent Top Down, Bottom Up. Sheer blinds are still $15 per shade and all the Hunter Douglas honeycomb shades have 1 cent top down, bottom up until December 15th.

Bamboo Blinds

Bamboo blinds have to be the most eco friendly of all of our products. They are usually hand made with one of the most renewable resources out there. Bamboo is the fastest growing grass and comes in tons of colors and thicknesses. Most of our bamboo or woven wood blinds are hand made in China or Mexico. For the ones made in China, the fabric is hand sewn there and the blind is assembled here in the United States. For the bamboo blinds made in Mexico, they are all hand made from scratch. Although more expensive, you can tell by the quality and small imperfections that they were made with great care. Except for a few operating parts on the blind (so it will last), all bamboo shades are made from natural and renewable materials.

Some of the grasses are looser on the bamboo blinds while others are tighter strung so energy efficiency can vary greatly depending on the style. All pricing is also based on the style of the weaves. The more integrate, the more expensive. All bamboo blinds are available with an optional 100% cotton backing that is energy efficient and protects the blind. Bamboo blinds with cotton backing can last up to 25 years.

Bamboo blinds have come a long way since the 1970’s. They no longer have just the “jungle look” but can fit any modern décor. Check out our website to see the hundreds of colors, styles and weaves of the most eco friendly blinds on the market today.
