Cleaning Bamboo Blinds Once In A While
Bamboo Blinds is a wonderful choice when you have a contemporary yet traditional decor in mind. This natrual material makes your home breathe with life and also lets the environment breathe safely. With all said and done about going green with bamboo blinds, it is important to clean them regularly to maintain its lustre.
It is very easy to maintain these blinds as they are strong and durable, but they may collect cobwebs, dust, and even mildew over time. The way to wash these blinds is described below:
* The best way to wash these blinds as a whole is in a large wash tub or your bath tub. Fill up with hot water and add soap ideal for cleaning wooded surfaces like Murphy oil soap and the likes.
* Soak the blinds in this hot solution for a few minutes and swish it around. You may take the help of a soft wash cloth or a sponge to gently loosen tough grime.
* Take the blinds out of the soapy water and rinse them till no soap remains.
* Hang them dry in a sunny place and dry them well. If it is still damp in a few places, then let them dry a little more. When fixing back your blinds, please ensure that they are completely dry to avoid mildew formation.
If these blinds are in a damp or a moisture-high place like the bathroom or a damp environment with not much of fresh air, then you may find the build up of mildew on your blinds, as the case with anything kept in damp areas.
To clean the mildew out of bamboo blinds, soak the blinds with one part bleach to two parts of water and wash as described above. Applying an anti-fungal solution or getting it treated professionally for mildew formation is advised if they are to be fixed in a damp area.
