Measure twice, drill once - Before you pull out the power tools and start at the wall, make sure everything is properly measured.  Is the wall large enough to accommodate the blinds you are about to install?  Do the blinds cover the full width of the window?  Measure these things first.  Once you’ve checked this, measure out and mark exactly where you want the holes for the bolts.  Make sure they are properly spaced and even before going on to step two.
