Even though the Silhouette and Nantucket look delicate, these window shadings are quite durable. You should be careful, but not afraid. Here’s how to make a clean sweep of things.
First, dust occasionally with a feather duster. If you have access to one of those compressed air cleaners (used for computer keyboards), that is a great way to clear the dust away between the vanes. A low suction, hand held vacuum is a little more powerful and great for a more thorough dust removal. For those hard to remove stains, a professional blind cleaner can use an ultrasonic or other extraction methods to take those out. Look under “blind cleaners” in the yellow pages.
A few things to avoid are: If the Silhouette or Nantucket is the Bon Soir or Misty Harbour, do not send them to a professional blind cleaner using an ultrasonic machine. You will ruin them. Do not spot clean the blinds. You will ruin that area and lastly, do not use ultrasonic cleaning devices such as Swiffer(TM) or Pledge Grab-it(TM).
