These are American made blinds and shades. Most of our products are
manufactured and assembled right here in the USA. You can also find the
state where they come from on each product page unless of coarse, they
are not made here.
Ironically, except for automobiles and textiles, there is currently no law that requires a "Made in the USA" label. Most of our manufactures do not put a sticker on there blinds saying made in the USA because, 75% of the actual components has to be made here. However, they will always put the country of origin label on if not made here as required by law.
The FTC definition proposed in 1996 states "It will not be considered a deceptive practice for a marketer to make an unqualified U.S. origin claim if, at the time it makes the claim, the marketer possesses and relies upon competent and reliable evidence that: (1) U.S. manufacturing costs constitute 75% of the total manufacturing costs for the product; and (2) the product was last substantially transformed in the United States." This is for the sticker or claim. Again, all of our manufacturers do not use a mark for this because 75% of the actual components have to be made here. Call if you need a list of these and a certificate for Government requirements and we can get that for you.
The blinds and shades listed will meet the "Assembled in the USA" requirement proposed by the FTC that says "A product that includes foreign components may be called "Assembled in USA" without qualification when its principal assembly takes place in the U.S. and the assembly is substantial. For the "assembly" claim to be valid, the products "last substantial transformation" also should have occurred in the U.S." All of the blinds and shades listed will have at least 75% assembly here.
We left out some VERY popular products like faux wood blinds. The reason behind this is because of a recent Government contract quote that was requested that was trying to qualify for funding under the current recovery act. Although the requirements of assembly was clearly made, the cost of transportation of the materials from China is included in the "foreign made" part. That cost, along with the components, was more than the cost of assembly here in the US even though 75% or more of assembly was done here. We simply could not find a faux wood blind among our suppliers that could offer this. Secondly, we left off others such as faux wood shutters where the majority of the material is extruded in another country (Canada) but is 100% manufactured here based on those extrusions.
