Interior Shutters and Vinyl Shutters
Interior shutters are hugely popular and are one of the most common types of
window treatments on the market today. There are three types of interior
shutters. Shades Shutters Blinds only provides the traditional plantation
interior shutter.
Plantation Interior Shutter
Plantation interior shutters are the classic and most popular style of interior
shutter. They have a lager louver (slat) contoured like an airplane wing.
Half the louver sticks out in front and half in back. The plantation
shutters has a frame that surrounds the window to finish it out. Their is
a tilt bar that is either in the front or in the back that allows you to open
and close each louver at the same time.
The thing that distinguishes the plantation shutter from the other types is the
thickness and the size of the louver (slat). A traditional interior
shutter comes with the 3 1/2" louver. In today's market, the lover range
in sizes of 1 1/2", 2 1/2" 3 1/2" and 4 1/2". It is surround by a frame
with a lip on it that makes a nice trim around the window called a Z-Frame.
Some other the other interior shutters have no frame at all and mount to the
side of your window opening with only the hinges.
For the plantation interior shutters, Shades Shutters Blinds makes three types.
First is the straight faux wood which is made of 100% PVC vinyl materials.
It is affordable and can resist water. We also have the composite shutters which are made of a wood and PVC mix. They are heavier and look more like
real wood. The final is the real wood which is lighter and can carry
beautiful satins finishes.
Interior shutters are constantly in our top five most popular window treatments
we carry. Although they are more expensive that most window blinds, they
have stood the test of time, are very energy efficient, durable and are the only
window treatment on the market that actually adds value to your home because
they are a permanent fixture.
