Fabric Shades and Fabric Window Treatments
Fabric shades by Shades Shutters Blinds includes all of our blinds that are
made of fabric. There are five types of fabric shade that we provide.
The first is the cellular or honeycomb shade fabric window treatments. The next type is the pleated
shade and then the roman shade the roller shade and lastly, the sheer blind.
Cellular
(honeycomb) shades are by far the most popular fabric shade that we provide.
They are made of a cellular construction for superior energy efficiency.
The advantages of the cellular (honeycomb) fabric shade is the affordability,
numerous options to choose from, color selection and the high stack (high high
it goes to the top of the window) which help for the views. Some of the
disadvantages are that it has to be all the way up in order to get a full view.
You cannot adjust it. It comes in either light filtering or total blackout
fabrics only. There is no middle ground. Some of the options include
with the cellular (honeycomb) fabric blind include: top down, bottom up,
UltraGlide, motorized, no cords (LiteRise), vertical cells, continuous cord
loop. The cellular (honeycomb) fabric blinds also come with different
pleat sizes including three eights of an inch, double honeycomb, triple
honeycomb, three-fourths inch single honeycomb and the one and one half inch
honeycomb.
Pleated Shades are very similar to the cellular (honeycomb) fabric shade. They still go
up and down the same way but do not have the cell construction. They are
typically made of polyester for easy cleaning and a more natural look. Most
pleated fabric shades are semi transparent and are designed to let light in.
You can add a privacy liner or a total blackout liner that goes on the back of
the fabric shades to provide total privacy while allowing light in or totally blacking
out the room. The backing is white so as not to show the color from the
street side. The advantages of the pleated fabric shade are the tons of
beautiful patterns of shade fabric to choose from. Unlike cellular shades, the fabric can
match the drapes. Some of the disadvantages are mainly energy efficiency.
This fabric shade has to have the backing to make it energy efficient. Option
includes top down, bottom up, continuous cord loop, cordless, motorized with
either radio remote or standard infrared remote.
Roman Shades are the most tradition fabric shade. They go up and down in the
traditional flat pattern or can be upgraded to the hobbled look which looks like
a tear drop. Most of the fabrics are either light filtering or room
darkening (blackout) with white facing the street. However, there are a
couple of suppliers that offer a backing option and they have much more colors
and patterns to choose from for these fabric shades. Most roman shades are made of polyester but a
few are made of linen, silk and cotton. The advantages of the roman fabric
blind is that there are hundreds and hundreds of patterns and colors to choose
from. Also they are much more affordable than making them yourself.
The disadvantage is just like the pleated and cellular (honeycomb) fabric blind,
they have to be up or down. You cannot tilt them at an angle. Option
include fabric backing from some suppliers, top down, bottom up, fancy valance,
motorized with either infrared or radio remote, hobbled option and continuous
cord loop.
Roller Shades fabric shade goes up and down on a roller system. Shades Shutters Blinds
uses the continuous cord loop as the standard operating mechanism because of
ease of use. The old spring operated is provided but not listed online.
Colors and fabrics for this fabric shade is typically the same as the roman
shades. All three of our suppliers (Prestige, Comfortex, and Hunter
Douglas) provide the same fabrics for the roller shade and the roman shade.
The advantages of the roller fabric shade are the price, the huge fabric
selection, very little stack and a traditional look. The disadvantages are
either up or down and there is not backing available with this product. Option
includes the spring loaded operating system, the continuous cord loop, motorized
with either radio or infrared motors and the popular cassette valance that
finishes out the window.
Sheer Blinds fabric shade is the most versatile of the fabric shades that Shades Shutters
Blinds offers. It can go up and down like all the others but is can be
opened in the down position to allow light in while still maintaining privacy.
Each vane on this shade has a sheer in the front and in the back. Vane
sizes include two inch, two and one half inch and the massive three inch. There
are around thirty colors to choose from with this fabric shade. Advantages of
the sheer blinds include ease of use, a the ability to adjust the vanes any way
you need. Also, it is a very formal look. Disadvantages include the
price which is the most expensive of all the fabric shade, not so energy
efficient, and the bulky headrail system that is almost thee and one half inches
wide. Options include motorization with either radio or infrared remote,
UltraGlide, fabric headrail and room darkening.
