Minis
Aluminum blinds are made of one hundred percent aluminum. Aluminum
window blinds are based basically on three factors. First, slat thickness.
Second, slat size and thirdly, options and colors.
There are basically two main types of slat thickness for the aluminum
market. The six gauge and the eight gauge slat. Some manufacturers
make a four gauge and a twelve gauge. Four gauge metal mini
blinds come with no warranty
and SSBs will not provide this. The twelve gauge is hard
to find and we do not carry this also. The most affordable aluminum blind
is the six gauge. It looks the same as the eight gauge but is around
twenty percent thinner. This is the most popular metal blind that SSB provides because of the same lifetime warranty as the eight
gauge and they have the same colors. Click here for our brand one inch
six gauge metal blinds or here for the Hunter Douglas one
inch Celebrity. The next most popular slat thickness is the
eight gauge. These are popular for high traffic areas where slat bending
might be an issue. They are around twenty percent thicker than the six
gauge slat. Our generic two inch venetian blinds comes with the eight
gauge standard. Click here for the eight gauge Hunter
Douglas brand Decor one inch metal blinds. The eight gauge metal
mini blinds slat is
25% thicker than the 6 gauge and will hold up to bending much better
than the six guage.
Slat size is also important for aluminums. There are three sizes
that Shades Shutters Blinds provides. First is the half inch slat.
Smaller than the standard vinyl mini blinds, it is popular for narrow depth window
openings and doors. Our brand half
inch aluminum blinds can be found here. Hunter Douglas also makes a
fine half inch aluminum mini blinds called the Decor. Click here for
Hunter Douglas 1/2" Decors. The most popular by far is the standard one inch
aluminum blinds or mini blinds. There are many colors to choose from and
the mini are priced to sell. The last kind of aluminum mini blinds we provide is
with the two inch slat mini. This is also called a venetian blind. They
are still popular for the classic look The tapes option finishes out the
window. It is made of one inch solid cotton in around thirty different
colors.
There are several options that can be found with aluminums. First
is the standard tilt mini blind. You have a cord to lift the blind up and down
on one side and a wand or pair of strings to tilt the blind on the other side.
The second most popular option is the remote controlled option. Although
is only tilts the blind, it is excellent for those hard to reach windows.
Hunter Douglas provides a very nice headrail system with the mini Litelines. The headrail is thicker and serves as the valance. The
routless or no holes feature is also popular for vinyl mini blinds. There are no rout holes used
to raise the mini up and down which provides superior light control. The last
popular option is available on the two inch aluminum mini blinds slats. It is
the tapes option. You can choose from around thirty different
popular colors.
The R-Value is how much energy efficiency your
